What is the Quiet World?

Within the context of my stories and novels, The Quiet World refers to the supernatural, but in a larger sense refers to the overall setting for them--hence the obvious blurb, "a story of the Quiet World."

It is a near-future setting in which the existence of supernatural beings is common knowledge, thanks to a group called the Jasonites, who in 1997 "outed" one hundred and thirty-seven supernaturals, sparking witch-hunts, lynch mobs, riots, and worldwide civil unrest that eventually escalated into a series of conflicts over a ten-year period, referred to collectively as the Apocalypse Wars--So-called because the word "apocalypse" is defined as the act of revealing that which has been hidden.

Thanks to the eventual use of nuclear, chemical and especially biological agents, the wars left Earth with a population of only around three billion, and altered the balance between "daylighters" (plain vanilla humans) and "Quiet Worlders" (those touched by the paranormal). Daylighters still outnumber Quiet Worlders by far, but the lines between the two are sometimes blurred.

I will edit this later to include more information, but for now, I have a deadline to meet. My ego's primary home on the web is my currently messy-as-hell site at http://www.robhamm.com.
